    Weekend at BARMAH

    Hello,

Well we spent last week at BARMAH/VIC. Just thought i would post up a bit of a rough report. We left home last friday, fuel was $163.9(Diesel) and arrived at ROCHESTER central VIC filling up at $154.9. How do you explain that?

Stopping at a hotel for a very nice lunch and breaking the journey

Checked out the local silo art

Later arriving at the small town of BARMAH we decided not to get to our campsite from this end , as we new that there was a flooded section along the track. So we continued onto PICOLA , from there about 15 ks to our campsite . We entered GULF TRK came across three water crossings before reaching RIVER RD. We found a campsite not the one we wanted as others were camped there.

Our camp, click on the photo for video

Fishing was not that great this weekend

Plus the only other i caught was 50 cm carp almost got it to the bank before the line broke.

We found this campsite, which would be great for a big group , you could launch a boat from there , it has a natural ramp

A good three and a half days was had, packing up and leaving on the Monday. We headed out the way we came in. One of the water crossings we got stuck in traveling in 4H the back left hand side sunk into a hole we came to a stop. Slipped it into 4L not likeing changing gears when in water but we got out.

Continued on our way and thought we would check out the BARMAH LAKE campsites, which we have not looked at before. A series of large camps each with a fixed table and chairs , no fire places and one block of long drops on the lake area. This would be good for caravans and all free camping. Further down the road there are some old stock yards with information boards dotted around.

Thats about it for our weekend, we do love camping on the river there

    Hi Laurie,

I've found with Flickr that I use the properties of the pictures to get the URL before I finally upload them.

Press the expand button, right click pikkie, click properties and the urls should have "farm" in them.

Copy, go back to forum, insert image, paste and ok.

Works for me. Look forward to seeing yours.

(Open my van thread, right click on one of the pics click properties and you'll see the url the way it should look)

Love it Laurie. The great Aussie outdoors.

    Where were the silos?
