Oz Fireys New Adventure (In an Off Road Van)

After months of research I have finally put in an order for the major part of my new adventure, life on the road living out of and in an off road van.

To find a van that ticked off the majority of my boxes for the ideal Adventurers Home was a difficult task.

Which way to go? Cheap Unproven Chinese Materials or Expensive Aussie Made using Aussie Materials? Well after much to and froing I decided on the Expensive Aussie version and this is what I have ordered:-

It's a Spinifex Atomix Series II which is being made in Deception Bay north of Brisbane. The base model came in at $79500 and I've added $28869 worth of extras and upgrades, total price $108369.

The list is quite a mouthful and includes the following:-

Bush Scrub Bars - One Piece Composite Floor - Auto Self Levelling Air Bag Suspension, Twin Shockers - ATX Suspension - Mud Flaps on Stone Shield - Truma Aqua Go Hot Water - Covers for ROA Arms and Vents
Under Stone Shield - Door Dust Vent Cover - Aircon Air Command Sparrow 2.2kw - Anti Flap Kit For Awning - Bluetooth Unit For TV Sound to Radio - Twin Outlet Diesel Heater - Microwave Oven - Electric Actuator to lift Roof
Three 100ah Revolution Lithium Batteries - Daewoo 2kg Washing Machine - Grey Water Tank 80 Litre - Extra 150 W Solar Panel and an upgrade to a 70 amp charger/1600 W Victron Invertor

A sizable list put together with the standard inclusions gives me all the bells and whistles of a comfy home and a perfect haven for an ageing Oz Firey

I've secured a slot in September for the construction so it should be completed and ready to hit the road by the end of that month.

Added a link to a favourable review of a similar modified Atomix

Looking forward to hooking it up to the old 60 Series and to spend life wandering around our wonderful country on roads that I have yet to travel, when the real adventure begins I'll start another Multistate rolling trip report to keep in contact with all interested.

    Cheers

    Max.

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments.

My other choice was an Extreme Outback Curlew, mean mother of a beast and been up to the Cape and Frenchmans Track as a guide to its strength and capabilities. It was a lot heavier than the Atomix and I believe would possibly be outside of the Bruisers Towing Capacity, whatever that is! Their build time was even longer at 16 weeks so the wait for the Atomix is reasonably bearable.

Flying up to Brisbane 6th August to visit factory, choose layout options and colour schemes available.

Guess the Police Paddocks Forum Trip coming up will be nostalgic one in the swag setup but definitely wont be the last as there will be tracks that I will want to do but wouldn't be prepared to risk major damage to an expensive van.
