    2016 Edjits Mapatassie Tour

Just returned from our 2016 Edjits Mapatassie tour, we spent around 40 days touring, not without the odd problem, but only one fail to proceed.

Will start on a trip report but it may be slightly slower than the past as I have to go back to work and over the next 10 (working) days prepare to retire .

    Hi Martyn
I think there is a bit of a line up waiting for your trip report mate, (no pressure).
Either that or everyone was expecting to see the "Mapatassie"
Good luck in your retirement also.
    Cheers

The idea of the trip to Tassie came up towards the end of our last Edjits trip "Centreing the Simpson" when it was suggested that somewhere 'greener' may be nice, hence Tasmania.
I don't think any of us really appreciated the diametrically opposite weather to the Simpson that we were to experience.
The group came from Brisbane, Tamworth, Hawkesbury area, southern Sydney, and Melbourne.
As we couldn't all get onto the Ferry at the same time for the crossing some would make the crossing on the 9th and the rest of us would follow on the 10th (which happened to be the 60th birthday for 2 of us), and head out of Devonport on the 11th.
That worked well except both myself and my wife came down with a 24hr stomach bug on the 8th, which slowed (no stopped) us packing the car and spending most of the day curled up in bed or hovering over the toilet.

Anyway we all met our departure times and met up in Devonport nice and early on the 11th.

Looking forward to seeing how you spent 40 days in Tassie, so much good stuff down there it wouldn't be hard.

    Cheers Andrew
Why would I buy something for $10 when I can make it for $20

    Always love reading your reports!

I'm leaving the country for 10 days... should be nearly done when I get back!
On days like this I'd rather be west of the Darling!

    Day 1 - 11th October

Today saw us all together as a group and after some shopping in Devonport to stock up on fruit and veges and a few other odds and ends we headed out towards Mole Creek where our first night was to be spent enjoying the company of Numptys brother and wife.
On the way though there was a stop at Sheffield (The town of murals) for coffee and then lunch.
From here it was a quick trip and walk out to Alum Cliffs, before heading for camp 1.

    Sheffield - Town of Murals

The cleanest it's going to look.

    Alum Cliffs - Mersey River

    Together outside Mole Creek Hotel.
