    Ferndale Park

    LOCATION (nearest road/crossroads):Chichester dam road
    CLOSEST TOWNungog
    CO-ORDINATES:
MAPS USED (brand/area):any sort of NSW map
    ACCESSABILITY (4WD, AWD, 2WD):2wd
SIZE (how many camps would fit):50+
FACILITIES (toilet/shower/drinking water):all of the above
PHONE RECEPTION (yes/no/poor):poor....good enough for a text msg

CAMPING COSTS:$12.50 per adult.......$9 per kid over 4 yrs

On our way to Bretti reserve for a weekend, we somehow got sidetracked and ended up here.........

Had heard about the place, but had never got around to giving it a go.........was a quiet weekend by the look of the lack of other campers, but maybe that's why I liked the place so much ( except for paying !! )

We camped at the far end of the property, and because the place was quiet, we had the area to ourselves...........no shower down this end, but a nice clean drop loo.....20M to the river ( which was just deep enough for a dip )............fires allowed anywhere ( I believe you can forage for wood on the property....I found a branch that I cut up for the fire )....just downstream from Chichester dam.....4 K's from Chichester state forest ( 4wding and firewood collection )..

Thanks for adding the report Greig.

We stayed there back in 2009 when the river was running a banker, and there was no chance of getting to the other side.

Nice spot, but think I'd rather stay in Chichester SF for free.

Been there a couple of times and its nice spot. The showers are a touch on the rustic side though. The cows wandering around the property can make some interesting sounds in the dead of night

Looks like a great spot Greig, the more options we have the better and not very expensive either.

2.8's Sound great, but a worked 3.0L goes better

Must have been when the dam was overflowing Gary ??

I went into Currawong for a look.....and even though Ferndale is nicer, I can see your point about the forest ....FREE !!

For what started as a wet weekend ( friday anyway ), I was surprised to see several groups at Currawong....and Telegherry..

As you can see by the photos, I much prefer the out of the way spots....whether it's with a group or solo..
