(Vic) H/C Jamieson into the Mountains by Mountain Bike Easter 2013

Easter was spent at Jamieson at our little shack and the weather was spot on for some time on the Mountain Bike, after low range work in the GU in the morning I decided on a quick 15km ride up the Jamieson - Licola rd to the turn off to Granny's Flat campground and back. It was a good ride and not to much traffic.

On Saturday I again headed off solo into the mountains, again on the MTB. I followed the Jamieson-Licola rd again but this time I rode the 12.2km to the top of Gallows tk.

I only had my old iPhone 3 with me so the pics aren't good at all......

Around 4-5km from Jamieson I stopped here and took this pic of the bike out across the the old family farm. The Jamieson River flows through the property which is bordered by Crown land.

Next stop was the Jamieson State Forest sign, The ride to hear was undulating and not to tough. Although there was plenty of corrugations.

12.2km from Jamieson and around 57 mins inc stopping for pics my average speed was only 11.9 kmp/h The gradient in the below image will show the climb I was faced with.

The ride down Gallows tk was a blast and after stopping to chat to a few blokes in the Patrols the only way was down all the way into Granny's Flat. I past the Mitchells Bridle track which we will be riding along in the future. I did hit one of the erosion mounds rather quicker and got a little more airtime than I expected, not to sort of area I really wanted to come of on by myself! Granny's was packed with campers for the easter weekend. Sorry no pics as I just rode straight through the camp ground and looped back up to the Jamieson-Licola rd.

Here is a map of my ride.

My top speed was just a tad under 50kph which i think was on a section of Gallows Tk.

A good bit of training for the upcoming forum meet of the 4WD Adventure/ MTB weekend!

    Cheers
    Rich

After your longer than intended air time, did you land right way up?

Good report Rich. I still think I'd rather drive it than ride it.

Yeah Gaz landing was good! I soon decided to pull it back a peg or two!

You would remember climbing that track as it was the first one for the day on the forum trip there last year in May. The top section very pretty steep.

    Cheers

    Hi Rich
I am surprised you have not had a 4WD Adventurers sticker made up for the mountain bike
